Global Scenario of Antiviral Drugs for Japanese Encephalitis
نویسنده
چکیده
Japanese encephalitis a mosquito transmitted viral disease is a global confront for public health. The disease is a pediatri problem, the seriousness of the disease can be predicted as it mostly affects the children and the survivor are left with ser long term neuropsychiatric problems. Hence the disease is affecting our future generation. The only available option to control JE is vaccination but being a disease of low socioeconomic strata, affordable vaccines are still a demand. to overcome the present situation there is an imperative need for development of safe and affordable antiviral drugs for Japanese encephalitis. There are many promising antiviral agents against JE which need further evaluation. highlights the potential antiviral drugs which can be utilized for Japanese encephalitis.

Current approaches in antiviral drug discovery against the Flaviviridae family.
Viruses belonging to the Flaviviridae family primarily spread through arthropod vectors, and are the major causes of illness and death around the globe. The Flaviviridae family consists of 3 genera which include the Flavivirus genus (type species, yellow fever virus) as the largest genus, the Hepacivirus (type species, hepatitis C virus) and the Pestivirus (type species, bovine virus diarrhea)....
متن کاملSuppression of Japanese encephalitis virus infection by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) infection generates a rapid inflammatory response including peripheral neutrophil leucocytosis and infiltration of neutrophils into extraneural tissue. The level of inflammation correlates well with the clinical outcome in Japanese encephalitis patients. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), used medicinally for their analgesic and anti-inflammatory p...
متن کاملJapanese Encephalitis Virus Replication and Inhibitory Effect of shRNA in Mice
Japanese Encephalitis Virus (JEV) is responsible for over 30,000 annual cases of encephalitis worldwide, causing 30% mortality. JEV is thus a continuing threat to public health, so development of new antiviral drugs against JEV is desirable. Here, we examined JEV replication in mouse and used a short hairpin RNA JRi as the antiviral agent. The features of virus replication in neuron and surviva...
متن کاملScreening of FDA-Approved Drugs for Inhibitors of Japanese Encephalitis Virus Infection
Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV), an arthropod-borne flavivirus, is a major cause of acute viral encephalitis in humans. No approved drug is available for the specific treatment of JEV infections, and the available vaccines are not effective against all clinical JEV isolates. In the study described here, a high-throughput screening of an FDA-approved drug library for inhibitors of JEV was perf...
متن کاملAntiviral Activity of Baicalein and Quercetin against the Japanese Encephalitis Virus
Japanese encephalitis (JE), a mosquito-borne viral disease, is endemic to the entire east and southeast Asia, and some other parts of the world. Currently, there is no effective therapeutic available for JE; therefore, finding the effective antiviral agent against JEV replication is crucial. In the present study, the in vitro antiviral activity of baicalein and quercetin, two purportedly antivi...
